I guess I started the “old fashioned” way — I started by doing everything. Filmmaking on a shoestring I suppose you could call it. I couldn’t afford more than tape for the camera so I was the entire crew. But it taught me, in a rudimentary way, what everybody’s position was and so when I went to hire people I could have a sense of whether or not they could actually do a good job.
That, and having a vision of what you want your final project to look like and what you want it to communicate, will go a long way towards helping assemble a great team around you, in my opinion.
If you like this, I have lots of videos like this on my YouTube channel, Filmify It. Check it out and subscribe!!
Also, a little housekeeping — I’m getting really busy these days with a new book I’m writing and two films I’m putting together. So I won’t be posting quite as often here. I’ll try to post at least once a week, but I might only be able to do that. I can always use your support. Buy Me a Coffee if you’re so inclined. It’s much appreciated!!
